P&O Cruises partners with First News on exciting new cookery series for kids

P&O Cruises has partnered with First News, the UK's only national newspaper for young people and the world's first online news channel for kids and teenagers, to offer a fun monthly cookery series on http://live.firstnews.co.uk/recipes/ featuring P&O Cruises Food Heroes, Marco Pierre White and Eric Lanlard.

This online cookery series comprises 12 short, informal videos filmed with the celebrity chefs. Each film focuses on one simple and delicious dish, which is prepared by either Marco Pierre White or Eric Lanlard with help from a First News reader.

P&O Cruises senior vice president, Paul Ludlow, said: "First News is a perfect fit with P&O Cruises. I've always believed in the importance of teaching children to cook and I am confident that these fun, bite-size films will excite First News readers and get them whipping up the dishes for their friends and families."

Nicky Cox, editor in chief of First News, added: "Practical cookery is compulsory in the national curriculum for all children up to Year 9. Our new cookery series with P&O Cruises builds on the culinary skills being taught in schools and encourages children to develop these skills further. Marco Pierre White and Eric Lanlard are such wonderfully talented chefs and we are thrilled that these masters in their field are teaching our young readers to cook these basic dishes."

Featured dishes include Chicken Milanese, Green Risotto, Chicken Pie, New York Spaghetti, My Mother's Spaghetti and Creamy Creamy Macaroni Cheese (Marco Pierre White) and Festive Flapjacks, Billionaire Shortbread, Banoffee Pie, Rocky Road, Blondies and Chocolate Brownies (Eric Lanlard).

Marco Pierre White said: "I'm so excited to be involved in this project. My love of food and my understanding of respecting ingredients is a result of cooking with my mother when I was very young. I believe it is incredibly important for parents to encourage their children to cook at home and enjoy food as a family. If children understand ingredients and how to use them it will help them to develop a lifelong love of good food as well as skills they can use throughout adulthood."

Marco Pierre White and Eric Lanlard travel with P&O Cruises throughout the year and run cookery classes, hosted dinners and hosted shore excursions. For these dates, more information or to book call P&O Cruises on 0843 374 0111, visit www.pocruises.co.uk or visit a travel agent.
